City 2 Bay After Run Members Breakfast

City-Bay post-run members breakfast and Club Championships

Sunday, 18 September 2011

The City-Bay is fast approaching and once again the Club will be holding its post City-Bay breakfast in the SARRC marquee on Colley Reserve.

For $5 you can get well earned cooked breakfast (vegetarians, vegans, and gluten free diets catered for) cereal and tea and coffee, but you must pre-register by clicking here.

This year we’re also giving our members the chance to compete in the City-Bay Club Championship and be awarded the inaugural George Michell Trophy.

When you receive your race bib for the City-Bay you’ll be able to register for the Club Championship using the SARRC online entry system. Entry is free, but you must pre-register.

George Michell was a founding member of the South Australian Road Runners and is easily the club's oldest member at 98 years of age. To put his contribution to the club in context, he was 65 years of age when he helped found the club. Long after he ceased racing in our events he would still complete the City-Bay, even into his nineties; for many years the oldest competitor.

Recently, he made a very generous donation to the Club for the purchase of an equipment trailer, for which the design is being finalised. So to honour his generosity and his long standing contribution to the club, we thought it would be fitting to inaugurate the George Michell Trophies in his honour.

Medals will be awarded for:

12km run
- first three male and females
- first placed male and female in the 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+ age categories

12km walk
- First placed male and female

We’ll publish a list of all club members’ results via email and the web, so that you can easily find your friends’ results without combing through the other 30,000 people.
