NORWOOD GROUP - 6AM TUESDAYS
Starting from the carpark of Norwood Bowl on Osmond Terrace (on the west side, just south of the intersection with Magill Rd); 6am sharp, this group is a social running group with runs ranging out over the Eastern suburbs and North Adelaide. The group is generally 10 to 30 people running for an hour (10-12km) and includes 3 hr marathoners to back of the pack plodders (who sometimes take shortcuts). The route is communicated to all gathered runners moments before 6am and is often designed to take in a particular blossoming Jacaranda or some of Adelaide’s abundant parklands. Those who have time meet for coffee at the bakery on the south-west corner of the intersection of Osmond Terrace and The Parade.
Where: Norwood Bowl Carpark, Osmond Tce, Norwood.

Regular Runs:
Hawker Street
A scenic run through Gilberton, Walkerville and Medindie leads you to the North Adelaide Horse Paddock offering views across to the Adelaide Hills before plunging down through the botanic gardens and along the Eastern parklands. Faster runners loop up to the Britannia Round-a-bout and then back past Prince Alfred College, while those at the back of the pack usually take a shortcut via Fullarton Road.
Distance: 12.0km
Church Street
This run is dominated by wide leafy streets and beautiful old houses. After a quick trip through the back streets of St Peters to Hackney Rd this run takes in Gilberton, Walkerville along Walkerville Tce and Church Street before returning via Ascot Avenue and the Avenues of Joslin.
Distance: 11.6km
OG Road
The mighty River Torrens. This run takes in the Eastern part of the Torren’s from Stephen’s Tce to OG road and return. Take in the peaceful nature of trees, green grass ducks and flowing water (some times) as you make your way up the northern bank and back via the southern bank.
Distance: 10.6km
Statenborough Road
One of the tougher Tuesday runs and a satisfying test of mental toughness and leg power. This run takes in the long gradual climb through the Eastern Suburbs passed ST Peters Girls school up to Penfold Rd before returning with a downhill burst along the Parade.
Distance: 11.6km
Hallett Road
The toughest Tuesday run due to the increase in steepness as you climb up Greenhill Rd to Hallett Road before zig-zagging back through the Eastern Suburbs to Norwood.
Distance: 11.5km
Deveraux Road
Stretching South from Norwood to the Southern-most point of the regular Tuesday morning runs at Glen Osmond rd and returning passed the famous Dulwich Bakery.
Distance: 11.2km
Glenside
A flat run around the tree filled Glenside Hospital and then around Victoria Park Racecourse, where the morning dog walkers and sweat track users are also taking advantage of our wonderful parklands.
Distance: 11.2km
Sonja’s Run (Wellington Sq)
This run through North Adelaide begins with a gentle jog along the Torrens before heading up Montefiores Hill to meet Colonel Light and into North Adelaide where it is mandatory to stop for a drink at the tap in Wellington Square. The return journey is just as green along the edge of the Northern parklands and around the Horse Paddock. Keep a special look-out for the perfect blossoming Jacaranda Tree as you make your way back through St Peter’s.
Distance: 11.9km
The Swing Bridge
Who says kids get all the fun? This run starts with a slide down the long slippery dip in Dunstan Park on the Torrens, followed shortly after by a crossing of the suspension “swing bridge” in Gilberton and the Uni Footbridge outside Adelaide Uni. Faster runners turn around at the Torrens weir, while those of a more modest pace turn around at the Morphett Street bridge before returning to Norwood via North Terrace.
Distance: 11.8km
The Golf Course
More of a winter run, for the days where lack of light prevents running along the dark stretches of the Torrens, this run is through North Adelaide to the Golf Course and War Memorial Drive, crossing the river at the Weir and returning to Norwood via the botanic gardens.
