TRAIL OPTIONS
The full distance for the trail is 24.85 kms but there are a number of shorter options available. The trail involves a 5.15 km loop in the northern section taking runners from the Para River up to the northern sections of the park and the Barossa Goldfields. If the northern loop is not included the run is reduced to 19.70kms. Alternatively the northern loop can be run without the southern section, or running only parts of the southern sections with distances ranging from 21-22kms. A lesser option through the middle of the park can be run or walked over a distance of 16.89kms. Shorter options can also be easily worked out by using the roads to connect trails that loop back to the start.

As it is not possible for us to mark the trail, I decided to walk the trail with my camera and took photos of key sections. I have included these photographs in an extensive guide that I hope will be helpful. Don't feel you need to print off this longer version. A shorter one page guide plus the two pages of maps should suffice. Reading the guide beforehand and seeing the photos should help you to acquaint your self with the trail. We have discovered before that organising a trail run through parks like Para Wirra and Belair can be more difficult because of the extensive system of trails. Hopefully the photos will help. My advice to if you don't have a colour printer is to print out the maps and then mark the actual trail with a highlighter.

GARMIN FILE
If you would like a garmin file of the course to upload to your garmin please send me an email.

WHAT TO BRING
There are a number of locations throughout the park where you are able to access untreated rainwater from tanks adjacent to shelters and the park office. The park guide however states that these sources should not be relied upon so you should carry your own water for the full distance. Nor is it possible for us to arrange a water dump as vehicles cannot access the park until 8.00am.

TOILETS
There are toilets available at Kersbrook on the way or throughout the central part of the park.

POST RUN
Coffee and cake back at Babette's (The Cudlee Cafe, Cudlee Creek)
Come back after the run to Babette's for good coffee, good food and good company!
