South Australian Road Runners Club Trail Running Group

Since the running of the first Yurrebilla Trail 56km Ultra in 2007, there has been much interest in running regular trail runs in the Adelaide Hills and Mt Lofty Ranges.

These regular runs commenced in November 2008 with 27 runners and walkers heading to the summit of Mt Misery in the Montacute Conservation Park. 38 runners and walkers took part in the second trail run in mid December 2008 in the Scott Creek Conservation Park.

In 2009 these trail runs will continue monthly on either the second or third Saturday of the month.

Go to the Calendar page for dates and locations of all SARRC organised Trail Runs or download the Trail Run Calendar. Just looking for a Trail Run then go to the Trail Running Index page for a list of all Trail Runs we have mapped to date.

These informal trail runs:
- take place not too far from the city;
- are organized as loop runs to avoid car pooling;
- offer a variety of distances so that runners and walkers of all abilities can participate at the level/pace/distance that best suits them;
- aim to get people into some of the most beautiful areas of the Adelaide hills that are not so commonly accessed; and
- finish not too far from a coffee shop and/or bakery!

Everyone is welcome to join in - runners and walkers! For some people these trail runs provide a way of preparing for the Yurrebilla Trail 56km Ultra. For others it is just about getting away from the city and running or walking on the beautiful trails of the Adelaide Hills.

Prior to running any trail run, we recommend you read the
General Notes on Running Trails as prepared by SARRC's Terry Cleary.

Runners and walkers gather at the designated trailhead at 6.45am for a trail briefing and head off in groups of varying pace at 7.00am.

Maps and trail instructions are sent out by email in advance so that runners/walkers can print them off to carry with them on the run. Runners/walkers also need to bring all their own supplies - water, food, first aid etc.

No need to say you are coming, just turn up!

If you would like to receive regular updates about these runs then sign up to the SARRC Trail Running Mailing List.

A regular Trail e-news is also distributed regularly with all the latest news on trail runs happening here in South Australia and interstate.

Any questions about the runs should be addressed to Terry Cleary.
